  ZC Sterling Management

 
ZC Sterling is led by a management team with the expertise and determination to define innovative strategies that set-and then raise-the industry standards to a new high. The executive team draws on its years of experience in the mortgage lending, servicing, real estate information, property tax, insurance, and technology industries.

Bill Krochalis is President and CEO of ZC Sterling and led the team that founded the company in 1996.

With over 32 years of insurance and mortgage industry experience, he assembled a diverse group of talented managerial and technical professionals dedicated to building a single, adaptable company offering a full range of outsourcing solutions to the mortgage industry. A key principle defining the team was to bring together individuals who saw success as invariably resulting from an unwavering focus on keeping clients first – in performance, in mind and through their customers’ eyes.

Prior to founding ZC Sterling, Bill was Mortgage Market Executive for American Security Group, where he started and led the Mortgage Hazard Business. He previously held executive positions in domestic and international insurance, with responsibilities in Market Development, Sales Management, Information Technology and New Product Development.

Bill was awarded a J.D. cum Laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a B.A. from Yale University.

Mark Amacher is Chief Marketing Officer responsible for all Sales, Marketing and Client Relationship Management functions. He joined the company in 2006. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Mark spent 12 years at AIG United Guaranty where he held several executive sales, business development and strategy positions supporting the mortgage industry.

A strong industry leader and a proven team builder, Mark has over 30 years in sales, corporate finance, strategic planning and profit center management in the mortgage and insurance industries. Mark has worked internationally on opportunities in Israel, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, China, Korea, Canada, India and Spain.

Prior to AIG, Mark managed a Wholesale Profit Center at Countrywide. Mark started his career at General Electric working in five different businesses and functions, including audit, finance and senior sales roles at General Electric Mortgage Insurance of General Electric Mortgage Services.

Mark holds a B.S. in Finance from Weber State University, is a graduate of General Electric’s Financial Management Program (FMP), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Senior Executives Institute.

Mary Bro is Senior Vice President, ZC Sterling and President/CEO, Ci Direct. Mary joined Ci Direct in 1998 and became a part of the ZC Sterling team when it acquired Ci Direct in 2001. She is currently responsible for a high technology call center operation with multiple locations in the mid-West.

Mary has over 17 years sales and financial services call center management experience. She served as President of IntelliSell Corporation prior to founding Ci Direct.

Mary serves on the Board of Regents for Dana College, The Board of Directors for MidStates Bank NA., and the Board of Directors for Shelby County Health Foundation. She provides support to her local community through the Bro Family Foundation and Faith Sound.

Mary holds a B.A. Degree magna cum Laude from Dana College, an Economic Development Certification from University of Oklahoma and an MBA Degree Magna cum Laude from Southern California University.

R. Mark Chapman is Senior Vice President of Account Management. He joined the company as one of its founders in 1996.

Mark has over 26 years experience in insurance outsourcing. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, he served as Product Manager for American Security Group in their Hazard Insurance program and was responsible for the profit and loss of the Hazard and Flood business line. During Mark’s time with ASG the Hazard Product Line grew in industry ranking and profitability to become one of the “World Class” areas within the Fortis Insurance Group (parent of ASG).

Mark also worked with First Atlanta Mortgage Corporation for six years where he was Vice President in charge of the Insurance Agency and responsible for the Hazard insurance for the mortgage company.
Mark supports his community through involvement with the youth group at Wesleyan Fellowship Church.

Mark holds a B.B.A. degree from Georgia State University and is a Certified Insurance Counselor.

Steve Franks is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He joined ZC Sterling in 1999 and is currently responsible for all financial and accounting functions.

Steve has over 32 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of TIG Reinsurance Company, one of the top-ten U.S. Reinsurers. As part of his duties, Steve was a member of the Executive Committee for this $600 million broker market reinsurer and established and led its Finite and Non-Traditional business unit.

Prior to TIG Re, Steve was Vice President and Corporate Controller with W.R. Berkley Corporation, a publicly owned property casualty insurance group. Steve was responsible for all GAAP and Statutory reporting for the company as well as reinsurance administration.

Steve holds a B.S. in Accounting from Penn State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Michael Hersh is Senior Vice President and Consumer Marketing Product Line Executive. He has been with ZC Sterling since 1999.

Mike has over 22 years financial services and consulting experience with companies such as GE Capital, Andersen Consulting and Crocker National Bank. Under his guidance, ZC Sterling reinvented the way homeowners insurance is underwritten and delivered.

Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Product Development and Sales for a unit of GE Capital that involved insuring, selling and servicing Extended Warranties and Credit Insurance.

Mike holds an M.S. degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Mike Koepke is Senior Vice President and Tax Product Line Executive. He has been with the company since 1997.

With over 20 years of mortgage servicing experience, Mike has been able to infuse a customer perspective throughout the development of ZC Sterling's tax solutions. Under his leadership, ZC Sterling has delivered the industry's most technologically advanced real estate tax platform - ZC TaxSourcesm.

Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Mike was a Loan Servicing Manager with Fleet Mortgage Group where he managed vendor relations. Prior to that, Mike held servicing management positions with responsibility for Insurance, Tax and Customer Service operations.

Mike holds a B.B.A. degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Carla T. LaMorta is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. She joined ZC Sterling in 1997.

Carla is responsible for strategic business/technology planning and the deployment of innovative outsourcing solutions. Carla is also responsible for leading Enterprise Business Shared Services, which includes project management, business analysis and Six Sigma teams.

Carla has over 27 years experience in Information Technology including a variety of industries and technologies ranging from mainframe to web enabled solutions. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Carla was Vice President of Client Server Operations for Dun and Bradstreet Software, where she was responsible for revamping the entire client server software development process to improve quality and reduce product time to market. Additionally, Carla held various senior management technology positions at Turner Broadcasting, Coca-Cola Enterprises and Contel/GTE Corporation.

Carla is a member of the Technology Association of Georgia and Georgia CIO Leadership Association. She is actively involved in her community through her support of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Our lady of LaSalette Church and MUST Ministries. She was nominated for the Women of the Year in Technology Award in 2004.

Carla has a B.S. degree cum Laude from Florida State University.


Jim Novak is Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel. He joined ZC Sterling in 1998 and is currently responsible for all legal, compliance and administration functions.

Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Jim was Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for National Interstate Corporation, an independently operated subsidiary of Great American Insurance Company, and a leading provider of specialty commercial and recreation vehicle programs.

He began his career as a corporate attorney at The Progressive Corporation, where he represented the financial services group and several agency divisions. From 1988 to 1995, Jim worked as the primary property and casualty attorney for American Security Group, representing the lender-placed, collateral protection and other credit-related property and casualty and life insurance programs.

Jim holds a B.A. degree from The Ohio State University and a J.D. cum Laude from University of Toledo College of Law.

Don Sather is Senior Vice President of Human Resources. He joined ZC Sterling in 2002.

Don has overall responsibility for the human resources function of ZC Sterling.

Don has over 19 years experience in Human Resources including senior generalist and recruiting positions with Fortune 100 companies in the consumer goods, telecommunications and technology industries. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Don was human resources executive supporting the marketing, advertising and billing business units of BellSouth Corporation. In addition, Don has held various human resources leadership positions with Pepsi, Honeywell and the May Corporation.

Don supports his community through active involvement in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and as a recreation coach for Forsyth County Parks.

Don holds an M.B.A. degree from Embry Riddle University and a B.S. degree in Business Management from the University of Dayton. He holds a PHR, Professional in Human Resources certification.

Blair Schrum is Senior Vice President and Hazard Product Line Executive. He joined ZC Sterling in 1996 as one of the founders.

Blair has over 17 years of mortgage banking and consulting experience. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Blair was responsible for the development of new mortgage products and services and for piloting a sub-prime automobile lending operation at American Security Group. Prior to that, he was employed by Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting in its National Mortgage Banking Practice.

Blair holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of North Carolina Graduate School of Business and a B.A. degree in Economics from Davidson College.

Robert Shekell is Senior Vice President and heads Global Business Process Outsourcing. He joined the company in 1998.

Robert is responsible for the integration of Global Business Outsourcing Operations throughout all company business lines. Through highly controlled integrated work processes, ZC Sterling facilitates a “Best Shores” approach incorporating our six facilities in the USA and our New Delhi, India site.

In his 20 years of mortgage servicing experience, Robert has managed Corporate Training, Escrow Administration, Default Management and Trustee Services. Prior to joining ZC Sterling, Robert was loan service vice president for 13 years at Home Savings of America, FSB.

Robert has been active in the Institute of Financial Education serving President of the Los Angeles Chapter and Instructor for six years, teaching the fundamentals of Mortgage Loan Servicing, Improved Business Writing, Presentation Training and Loan Originations.

Robert holds a B.S. degree from Michigan State University with dual majors in Employment Relations and Economics. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Financial Education Mortgage Loan Origination and Servicing.
